JWCA President’s Letter – Sept 2014

beckySoon the Janesville Woman’s Club will be kicking off their 2014-2015 year with our Welcome Back Smorgasbord. This is a wonder-ful opportunity for women in the Janesville community who are in-terested in our club to come and meet our members, learn about our programs and activities and meet some new friends. Be sure to mark your calendars for September 17 at 6:30 p.m. and join us at 108 South Jackson in downtown Janesville. We will have deli-cious hors d’oeuvres and there will be a guest drawing for a de-lightful gift basket. All women over the age of 21 are welcome, so bring a friend, relative, neighbor, or co-worker with you and come learn about the Janesville Woman’s Club.

I recently received a letter from a former member, Jaye Jacobsen, who moved to Illinois for a new job. She shared these thoughts “I really miss the Janesville Woman’s Club. I haven’t found a group like it in my new town. I really enjoyed the phenomenal group of women that are in the club—all at different ages and places in their lives but still coming together to share with each other, sup-port each other, care for each other and help experience the ups and downs of life all while working together on many worthwhile community service projects.” We miss having Jaye as a regular part of our group but she still supports our club by returning for the annual spring Style Show fundraiser. If you are looking for mean-ingful friendships, I invite you to be a part of our organization.

There will be another important event in September—on Friday, September 26 a Capital Campaign for the preservation of our his-toric building will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. All members of JWCA, Art League, AAUW, MacDowell Music Club and DAR as well as citizens of the Janesville community at large are invited and en-couraged to attend. Our beautiful historic building is always in need of tender, loving care but there are significant preservation projects pending and we are reaching out to our community to help raise funds to tackle these projects. Light snacks, music and beverages will be provided and our plans will be presented. We will have in-formation about our building, the art gallery and all the clubs. Join us for an interesting evening.
